The master cleanse is a type of liquid fast which uses purified water, lemon juice, cayenne powder and maple syrup. These four ingredients are mixed together and consumed as the only intake of food. Lemon are highly alkaline, highly nutritious and highly cleansing to the liver. Cayenne powder helps build, support and maintain healthy tissue while reducing food intake to almost nothing. The maple syrup gives the body energy and regulates healthy cell metabolism and blood sugars levels.

The master cleanse is usually done for 5-12 days. Although many people have done it for up to 40 days. It is generally accepted to be safe to do so. The first 3-4 days are usually the most difficult when faced with addictive eating behaviors and hunger.  After day 3 or 4 it is more of a mental state/belief, getting your head around the idea that you won't die or get sick do to lack of food or nourishment. People usually report feelings of euphoria and a spiritual connection to life that is not normally felt in ones daily existence though out the whole body. Drinking the master cleanse gives your digestive system a break and allows for deep healing and detoxification to take place. When you go off the fast it is important to bring foods back into the body slowly. Do not eat a large fatty meal or junk food when coming off the fast. Eat mostly raw foods and small portions until your body begins to adjust back to solid foods. Chew your food well and continue a mostly liquid diet of smoothies and raw soups to gradually introduce solids.

Apple juice and apple cider vinegar contain malic acid an ingredient that softens, breaks down and dissolves liver and or gallbladder stones. Apple juice has less concentration of malic acid then does apple cider vinegar. The expression "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" may hold validity in that it helps dissolve liver and gallstones allowing the liver and gallbladder to carry less stones which in turn improves liver function. Take a table spoon of apple cider vinegar every few days as part of your normal dietary intake and slowly dissolve liver and gallstones over a prolonged period of time. It is not certain how effective apple cider vinegar is in dissolving stones but it is known that it does do this to some degree. Unless scientific studies were carried through there is no way of measuring how effective taking apple cider vinegar is on dissolving stone and how much you would need to take. In any case there is some effect, regardless apple cider vinegar has many other health benefits.
